On the other hand, Radovid is insane and responsible for genocide. It is clear that Nilfgaardian Empire is the aggressor and that they're ready to attack even the neutral countries.

This way the lonely Northern Kingdom of Redania and the Nilfgaardian Empire remain on the map. Radovid decides to attack the Kaedwen, which is quickly overtaken by him.

Meanwhile, Emhyr var Emreis, who has just managed to kill nearly half of the Northern Kings, breaking the peace treaties, crosses the Yaruga and attacks weakened Aedirn and Temeria. Initially, Letho was supposed to kill king Esteril of a politically neutral country Kovir and Poviss, but gladly didn't manage to. It is however important to notice, that it was all set up by Nilfgaard. Truth be told, Radovid later goes mad, while on the genocidal killing spree. The resulting witchhunt by Radovid is purely because of Philippa Eilhart's actions against Visimir II and the alleged help for the Kingslayers of the sorceresses. Later on, it's very likely for both King Henselt and King Stennis to die, and Geralt may decide to let them be killed. Letho of Gulet, pretending that it's the sorceresses who are funding his Kingslaying career, kills King Demawend, King Foltest. In return, Emhyr is supposed to rebuild the Witcher School of the Viper. The second important event with ties to Nilfgaard happens in Witcher 2 when Letho of Gulet is hired by Emhyr var Emreis to kill the Northern Kings. This move may seem illogical, it is however important to know that Dijkstra learned that Philippa Eilhart, a powerful sorceress, was behind the assassination of king Visimir II, father of Radovid V Stern. That was supposed to limit the power of mages. It is important to know, that it was Dijkstra who created the Order of the White Rose (later: Order of the Flaming Rose, the one ruled by Jaques de Aldersberg) in the first place. He aids them through such people as Roderick de Wett, a family of the Nilfgaardian general Joachim de Wett (who was the main commander on the western front in the 2nd Northern War). First, Nilfgaard tries to support Jaques de Aldersberg in the Vizima Uprising, in order to move Foltest away from power. He died there but greatly supported the Northern Kingdoms.įollowing those wars, in Witcher 1 and 2 there are 2 significant events related to Nilfgaard. And a bit of Trivia: Witcher Coen of the School of the Griffin fought in the Battle of Brenna. First Nilfgaardian War - Witcher Lore DOCUMENTARY YouTube
